Three Stones

3Stones_Entry.JPGThree Stones is a frontier village located in the foothills northwest of the Sword Mountains and south of Neverwinter Wood. It is accessible via the Triboar Trail, about two days travel from Leilon and two and a half days travel from Neverwinter.

Three Stones was a tiny farming village that has more recently become a mining community. Over the last few years, prospectors and fortune-seekers have come to the settlement pursing the veins of gold and platinum that are rumored to run through the stones in this area. The local farmers and trappers welcomed the newcomers, and the village has grown enough to support an inn (the Stonehill Inn), a general store (the Lionshield Coster), a trading post (Barthen’s Provisions), and a taproom (The Sleeping Giant), in addition to a few specialty craftsmen. Mineral claims are made and ores exchanged through the Miner’s Exchange, run by Halia Thornton. The town has no formal government, and instead annually elects a Townmaster from amongst the citizens, who is charged with keeping records and settling disputes. The current Townmaster is Harbin Wester.

Three Stones is named after the arch of ancient standing stones in the village square, which currently serves as in informal shrine to Tymora, Goddess of Luck. The village is built on the remains of a much older settlement that was known as Vandolin. The ruins of the old town are still very visible, most notably the ruined shell of a great manor (Tresendar Manor) that stands atop the hill at the east end of of the settlement.
